Shiso, also known as Perilla frutescens, is an aromatic plant native to Asia, widely cultivated for its unique flavor and health-promoting properties.

Studies suggest that shiso may offer several health benefits, including anti-allergenic properties that could help relieve allergy and asthma symptoms and anti-inflammatory properties that could benefit respiratory problems. Shiso leaves are also rich in carotenoids, precursors of vitamin A.

Main uses and applications

Asian cuisine, accompanies sushi. Desserts as a substitute for mint, cocktails such as mojito or caipirinha. Meat and fish tartars, carpaccio.
