Nutritive properties

Shiso, also known as Perilla frutescens, is an aromatic plant native to Asia, widely cultivated for its unique flavor and health-promoting properties.

Studies suggest that shiso may offer several health benefits, including anti-allergenic properties that could help relieve allergy and asthma symptoms and anti-inflammatory properties that could benefit respiratory problems. Shiso leaves are also rich in carotenoids, precursors of vitamin A.

Main uses and applications

Essential in Asian cuisine, especially in sushies and sashimies. It works as a substitute for mint in desserts and enhances cocktails such as mojitos. It excels in tartars, carpaccios, and fish stews. Also combines perfectly with cheeses and vegetables. Dare to prepare it in tempura.
